February sweeps is set to kick off tonight and runs through March 2. Get ready for special guest stars, plot twists, series debuts and every other trick the networks can throw at you. Here are the don’t-miss episodes for this week and next!

• “The Good Wife” has a whole slew of guest stars throughout February, including Michael J. Fox as attorney Louis Canning; America Ferrera as Natalie, a grad student ; Jerry Stiller as a judge; Method Man as Peter’s friend from prison; and Rita Wilson and F. Murray Abraham as attorneys.
• “The Big Bang Theory” is back and (Feb. 3, 8 p.m., CBS) Sheldon apparently begs Penny to give him acting lessons so his students will stop being bored in his class. We’re not going to lie, we can’t wait to watch this.
• “Who Do You Think You Are?” season two (Feb. 4, 8 p.m., NBC) will include celebrities who are searching for more information on their pedigree, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Steve Buscemi,  Ashley Judd, Kim Cattrall, Vanessa Williams and Rosie O’Donnell. Get ready to watch rich, famous people learn they’re descended from other rich, famous people.
• “Smallville” is bringing back Martha Kent (Feb. 4, 8 p.m., The CW), only to shoot her at a rally.
• “SNL” alum Dana Carvey is set to return as host (Feb. 5, 11:30 p.m., NBC) with musical guest Linkin Park. We can only hope he brings the Church Lady with him.
• There’s that Super Bowl XLV thing happening  (Feb. 6, 6 p.m., Fox) with the Green Bay Packers versus the Pittsburgh Steelers and a halftime performance by the Black Eyed Peas, but we’d much rather watch Puppy Bowl VII (Feb. 6, 3 p.m., Animal Planet) which is infinitely more entertaining, not to mention cuter. Also? This year they’re rolling out Puppy Cam, the most adorable point-of-view ever!
• On the heels of the Super Bowl is “Glee” (Feb. 6, Fox), heralding its return with a tribute to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Sorry, kids, but the Gloved One’s version is always going to be superior.
• “How I Met Your Mother” (Feb. 7, 8 p.m., CBS) is rolling out the red carpet for Katy Perry, who will be “acting” as Zoey’s cousin. Attention, Barney: Run. Run far, far away.
• Jennifer Beals and Jason Clarke will star in the new drama “The Chicago Code” (Feb. 7, 9 p.m., Fox), with Beals as the first female police superintendant of Chicago and Clarke as her former police partner. With Fox’s history of new shows suddenly vanishing into the abyss, we can only hope for their sake ratings are good. (Although that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Please see “Dollhouse” and “Firefly.”)
• David Denman (Roy from “The Office”) is getting his own comedy series, “Traffic Light” (Feb. 8, 9:30 p.m., Fox). The premise is all about three broheims in different stages of relationships, including Denman’s Mike, who’s married and has a son. We’ll be holding our breath on this one.

Take Crosby’s (Dax Shepard) relationship with Jasmine (Joy Bryant). Her reaction to his revelation that he slept with Max’s behavioral aide, Gaby (Minka Kelly), was utterly heartbreaking; the look of anger, betrayal, fear and utter devastation that flashed across her face in only seconds spoke so much and kudos to Bryant’s fantastic acting skills by speaking simply through facial expressions. The emotions were only heightened when Jasmine screamed, “You don’t deserve anything good in your life!” and Crosby realized not only had he lost the woman he loved, he may have lost his son as well. The fragile relationship these two have worked so hard to build has so easily been torn apart.

Then there’s the complicated Sarah (Lauren Graham) and Seth (John Corbett) storyline. After years of abandonment, the return of Seth has thrown everyone into chaos, especially Amber (Mae Whitman). Her outburst and gut-wrenching monologue on how she couldn’t trust her dad and how she didn’t want his little tokens of affection was so well done, and the emotion Whitman poured into it was breathtaking. We can only hope Corbett returns, because the chemistry between him and Graham is undeniable.

The last stab-in-the-gut card the “Parenthood” writers drew from their deck last night was one we never thought they’d whip out so soon. Adam (Peter Krause) and Kristina (Monica Potter) were arguing with Crosby on his terrible decision to have sex with Gaby, leading to her resignation as Max’s aide. As their fight reached a fever pitch, Adam screaming at Crosby that Max has Asperger’s, they were interrupted by a small voice: “I have Asperger’s? What’s Asperger’s?” The sight of Max (Max Burkholder), standing on the stairs, juxtaposed with a cut to Potter’s tear-filled expression, left us on the edge of our seats. And, of course, that was the end of the show.

We can only wonder how the writers are going to juggle all these emotions and storylines for the season finale, which airs next week.
